Buying a G.M. Product ?

According to a recent Rasmussen Poll only 26% of Americans support the bailout of G.M. While almost the same number believe a boycott of G.M. is in order.

42% of those who currently own a G.M. product seem likely to purchase another,43% have stated they will not ,and 16% are undecided.

Among adults only 16% are "very likely" to buy G.M.,10% are "somewhat likely",and 60% have said they will not buy G.M. Those under 40 are less likely to buy G.M. than thier elders.

51% of Americans have stated they are more likely to buy a Ford , due in part to the fact that they refused T.A.R.P. funds and bailouts. While only 12% seem less likely to do so.

Of those who consider themselves to hold " mainstream or populist " political views 46% own G.M. products. Of these folks only 15% say it is "very likely "  they will replace thier present vehicle with a G.M. product.

Of those that consider themselves of the "political class" 22% own a G.M. car , and 24% say that they will replace thier current vehicle with a G.M. product. Many of those stated thus have also stated that it is to show thier support for the bailouts.

At one time General Mortors was considered the largest Corporation in the world (replaced by Wal- Mart) and said to be able to buy nations.

Now many Americans think that the goverment and Big Business ( i.e. G.M.) are in cahoots against consumers and investors.

What do you think?

  • Yeah Ive seen that letter LOL..

As far as the geos go they are either Toyota, Isuzu, or Suzuki.. Even the Colorado is based of a foreign chassis. The gto/g8 is based off the Opel chassis which Chinese and Russians have a good share of. GM even re-badges daewoo's.. IMO GM is the worst at re-badging. They are selling us foreign cars calling them domestic!!

Cro like the Canadian built Chrysler's with Mexican motors LOL .. The camaro is built in Canada also now. American muscle at it's finest. At least the challenger is being built at an extension of a former AMC plant :)

  • Anyone get a "CHRYSLER(GM) LOYALTY" letter in the mail recently?   I or I should say my wife got one and I'm the one that bought the GM, go figure.  Anyway it came with a $1,000 voucher if she'd buy a new Chrysler/GM vehicle and then there was the fine print that stated only good for these vehicles and there were about 5 listed, but the MAJORITY of the vehicles were listed under the NOT GOOD FOR THESE vehicle, where about 10-15 vehicles were listed, PT Cruiser  and the majority of their high end or sporty type vehicles.

You'd think if a company is selling everything and going bankrupt they #1. wouldn't offer such vouchers or #2, if they did, it sure wouldn't exclude the high priced vehicles!   Now just how dumb is that?

  • Wal-mart should have bouht GM.  I mean really if they replaced them as the biggest company in the world, we could all buy a cheapo car from Wal-Mart right?   No, I don't think so.    A lot of Wal-Mart products are, dare i say it, worse junk than others.   There ARE a few things I buy from Wal-Mart, but I doubt seriously I'd buy a "Wal-Mart" branded car, would you?

  •                                I don't buy American nothing!!! G.M. made the G.E.O. line of cars and light S.U.V.'s.... Stamped on the transmission of the G.E.O. tracker is ("OLNY GOOD FOR 80,000 MILES") so that sums up the American exsperiance!!!!! There isn't too many American cars that go over 200,000 miles on the same transmission and engine!!!!! Either one or the other gets re-placed around 100,000 miles!!!! I especialy wouldn't buy a Government Motors(G.M.) car being that Obammie is their new C.E.O. he has enough hands in my pockets!!!!!

    Have a great day!!!
