Continuing the mess

It's interesting that most avowed Republicans still support the Republican politicians who got us into the situation that we are in, and the Democrats continue to support the Democrats who got us into this mess.  Why is that?

Even the self proclaimed "INDEPENDENTS" didn't vote for the independent party candidates and they consistently argue on the side of one of the two major parties.  Why is that?

The majority of the American people want health care reform, but yet they seem willing to place partisanship ahead of getting any meaningful reform.  Why is that?

Some people talk about the possibility/probability of a "revolution," but they don't seem to try to understand what the actual result of such actions would be.  Why is that?

When you look at the actions of the American public, is it fair to only blame the politicians for the mess that we are in?

  • Biker....Obama never campaigned on less government....he was very open about expanding government...and he was elected. So, you can't act surprised when he actually does exactly what he said he would do.......Shadows, you're right, the extreme widening of the income gap is what has brought the economy down...the same thing happened right before the Depression in the 20s and 30s...

  • BornToBeWild, as I mentioned some time ago, the fact that SUDDENLY the people who were millionaires became billionaires is extremely significant.  The middle and lower economic classes did not experience those kinds of gains even if they were lucky in the stock markets.

Of course it is difficult to understand how it could have happened, but what is more significant is that the very wealthy were getting extremely wealthy while the rest of the masses were standing still at best.

That is going to impact us more as time goes on.  The extremely wealthy will able to keep up with the rest of the world, but the masses won't any longer enjoy the economic advantages that most Americans have had beyond most of the other people in the world for more than sixty years.

  • It might not have started with Obama but he is wanting to do more which if I remember correctly he campained on less government.

Unfortantly you are correct about some voting for their party not the right person needed. No it didnt go bad starting this year, it just got worse.

  • Yes, it's true that the government has a lot of control over the citizens.  However, it would be delusional to think that that all began or increased significantly with Obama taking office.

Yet many of the same Democrats and Republicans have been reelected numerous times over the years.....so some people must either vote according to the party or else they must approve of the jobs that these people have been doing.  They didn't all go bad suddenly this year.

  • As we have learned from past and present...voting is only a side track to allow voters to think they may make a difference while behind the scenes votes don't really count, it's all a government control and they call the shots!  Every election is a diversity of what and who government officials need to gain the power and control over the people!  Politicians through this economic crisis has shown their true colors and commitments by taking more and more of what little people have left!
