Health care reform bill

Should there be a deadline to complete a health care reform bill?

  • Just to throw in my two cents here, didn't I hear obama say something about reading line by line on every bill crossing his desk before approving it? I'll bet dollars to donuts he hasn't read one line of this travesty let alone reading the entire thing. Was that just another "I mispoke" by the imposter?

As for a deadline, absolutly NOT. When I had to enforce a life safety code, I made sure I read and understood each and every line in the code books. That meant reading a line over and over and several sections above and below in order to fully understand it before imposing that code.

  • Lefty there is nothing the government does that reduces the deficit when they have to use our tax dollars to pay for it. The majority of Americans including republicians dont want it and dont want the government involvement.

  • Never? I really don't even know if the Republicans know why they are against the bill...they just are. I mean, Beck is against it, so it must be bad, right? Even if it does LOWER the deficit that is being complained about constantly, or that it would extend coverage to over 20 million Americans that don't have insurance...they just don't care about them. If they can't afford insurance, they must be poor. And, if they are poor, then they aren't Republicans....get it?

  • We saw what happened when the stimulus bill had a deadline. It was passed with massive pork. I think the healthcare reform bill should be passed when the contents has passed the approval of all those(most?) in congress from both parties. I think it should also be available in it's final form for the public to read and digest. Why would anyone want a deadline to pass this bill which has not been reviewed and passed the approval of all(most?) congress and public?

Kind of like signing a contract without reading it. You don't know what you really got yourself into.  But it is too late to take it back once the dotted line is signed. Would you do that?
