Protecting drug interests

Afghan leader Hamid Karzai has been acknowledged as victorious in his bid for the Presidency in Afghanistan.  Of course it is not difficult to win when your opposition withdraws from the race saying that the system is corrupt.  We have seen it happen quite a few times in developing countries.

But aren't we supposed to now be in Afghanistan to help the government become an independent democracy capable of keeping terrorists out?

President Karzai has been known to have strong ties to the opium trade for some time now, with his brother being cited as part of those ties.  But  corruption in government doesn't sem to be a concern for the U.S.  It doesn't apparently matter if much of the drug money is used to fund terrorism.

So why exactly are we in Afghanistan?   What do we hope to accomplish there?  No one seems to be able to provide a definitive answer.

Doesn't the U.S. support of Karzai indicate that it is more concerned about protecting the opium trade than it is about protecting open and honest democracy?

Isn't it time to be honest about the drug trade and bring our troops home?

  • Shadows you too remind me of the movie "The Wizzard of Oz" and the song sung by the scarecrow :If I Only Had A Brain".

  • More avoidance of the issues and more personal attacks.......Ya just can't produce a measurable goal for being in Afghanistan can you?.....when put to the "test" you fail miserably.

Since you get all of your "expertise" from TV, you may have noticed that there is now a move in government to define why we are actually in Afghanistan.  Apparently GW lacked many of the same skills that you lack.

BTW, where do you find any requests from me for "pie charts" and/or diagrams?  I would never assume that you are capable of such things since you obviously have great difficulties with the English language.

It would be a milestone just for you to learn how to construct operational and/or measurable goal statements. Until you do, your comments will continue to lack any substance for discussion.

  • Poor poor shadows cant understand english and what he is told. Even the government of Obama he loves so much has told him why but he still tries to justify it with made up stories. Then the poor guy (shadows) tries to impress others by making up excuses and wanting pie charts and diagrams think others will be impressed but we arent. All he is doing is showing his ignorance and we all know he is full of it just like his hero Obama.

  • RealAmericanBiker, as I thought, developing a realistic, measurable goal is obviously beyond your realm of understanding.

Obviously your stated goal of "....no more terrorists.." is not realistic or measurable.  It cannot be accomplished with certainty even here in the U.S., as we have learned from the military base incident which you cited, as well as many others over the years.

Sorry to have contributed to your frustration, but I didn't realize that you lacked such skills.

BTW, one murder in Orlando won't significantly change the annual crime rate in the U.S.

  • Objective for being there: to rid the world of Bin Laden and terrorist

Goal for being there: no more terrorist, O, nada, zilch. How hard is that for you to comprehend.

Maybe if you were to get your head out of Obamas ass you would be able to understand it. Or you are even more clueless than everyone thinks and you ramble on thinking you might save face.

So in other words the TV news is fake and the shooting in Orlando and Fort Hood were made up for ratings. Yea that teacher was correct for trying to state facts to you is like someone saying the world is flat when everyone else knows its round.
