The internet is a wonderful tool! I have been checking out the P.B.S. site ,and there is part of it is about a documentry on the Lewis and Clark Expedition.the men recruited were known as The Corps of Discovery.
What I found extremely interesting is the whole 3 year expedition was done on a total budget of $2,500.00. Even with an exchange rate of $30.00 to $1.00 ( becoming more each day) that is a total of $75,000.00.in modern funds.
I wonder ,when was the last time the Goverment did anything for $75,000.00 ?
I wonder if anyone has told Levi Johnson that the majority of subscribers to Playgirl magazine are Gay Men? Ha Ha Ha !
Ever since shortly after the 9-11 attacks there has been a lot of talk, but little action on a Memorial for the victums of the World Trade Center bombings.
My brother and I were kicking around an idea for such a Memorial the other day. We came up with this, rebuild the Towers exactly as before, but with 2 differences.
#1 Taller, wider ,stronger, and #2 on top of each tower construct a stainless steel sculpture 5 to 10 stories tall of a human hand with an extended middle finger..... and make sure they are pointed towards ...MECCA!!
Do you have any ideas for the Twin Towers/ 9-11 Memorial?
Starting tonight the earth will be passing through the Leonids. What are the Leonids ,you may ask your self?
The Leonids is an asteroid belt that the earth passes through every November , it is made up of the remnents left by a comet. When the comet passes close to the orbit of the earth the Leonids become much more intense, with some time up to 500 "falling stars " per hour visable to the naked eye. Even without the comet in the earth's orbit it is a fairly fantastic light show. The name comes from the fact that the "falling stars "originate from the constellation Leo.
The light show starts tonight (11/13) and runs through the 21st. For the best viewing,on the 17th & 18th 2a.m. to dawn,go to your local state/ national forest, Or anyplace away from bright city lights, look to a littile to the west of the middle of the sky,a little to the south they will be traveling west to east. Enjoy!

Well, it seems that the Revolutionary Guard has gotten some payback for the crimes they have committed against the Iranian people. Now the Iranian goverment is getting a taste of what they have helped fiananced and exported around the world.

Twenty years ago this fall the Iron Curtain and Berlin Wall fell ,one of the largest mass liberations in the history of mankind.
WHY ON CELEBRATIONS?
As we all know President Obama has been offered, and accepted the Nobel Peace Prize. Could not this acceptance influence his decisions in the area of foreign policy? Not in a monentary way, but rather in the form of gaining and keeping international prestige?
Should not the President's foriegn policy be driven by what is in the best interest of the UNITED STATES ,rather than that dictated by the Nobel committee, or the love of the international community?
George Washington wrote in his farewell address on the subject of foreign influence: "As avenues to foreign influence in innumberal ways ,such attachments are particulary alarming to the truly enlightened and independent patriot. How many opportunities do they afford to tamper with domestic factions , to practice the arts of seduction, to mislead public opinion, to influence or awe public officals. ....
Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence ( I conjure to believe me, fellow citizens) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake , since history and experence prove that foriegn influence is one of the most baleful foes of republican goverment."
Besides is it even legal for a President to accept an award from a foreign organization while in office?
In the Hertige Guide to the Constitution ,Robert Delahunty writes, "The delagates at the Constitutional Convention specifically designed the clause as an antidote to potentially corrupting foreign practices of the kind that the framers had observed during the period of the Confederation.Wary, however,of the possibility that such gestures might duly influence American officals in thier dealings with foreign states , the framers institutionalized the practice of requiring the consent of Congress before one could accept " any present , emolument, office, or title, from a foreign state"." ( quotes within quotes directly from Constitution)
Now ,some may site the instance of Thedore Roosevelt accepting a Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering the peace that ended the Russo/ Japanese War. Yet the truth is that T.R. refuse the honor( this was when the prize meant something) until AFTER he was out of office , and put the monetary reward at the disposal of Congress , and let them determine and decide it's fate.
Can President Obama say the same? Has he consulted Congress at all?
When Congress revoked all public funding for A.C.O.R.N. ,thier C.E.O. Bertha Lewis ,blithely claimed they did not govermental monies.
Brian Kettenring , Deputy Director of A.C.O.R.N.'s National Operations ,claims that of A.C.O.R.N.'s $n 25 million operating budget ,only 10 % was recieved from govermental sources. The rest he says comes from private donors ,membership dues and FOUNDATION GRANTS.
Well, according to the Washington Post , it seems that A.C.O.R.N. is being abandoned by private foundations.Since January, the Ford Foundation ,the Annie E. Carey foundation, the Charles Stewart Mott foundation,The Marguerite Casey foundation and Bank of America have all pulled thier funding to A.C.O.R.N. and all of it's affilates.
These foundations are made up of private contributors ,and it lookes like theses contributors do not want to be associated with an organization that condones ,advocates ,or advises those involved in child prostitution, fraud ,and tax evasion.Besides , it looks like a P.R. nightmare to be involved with A.C.O.R.N.
So dear reader, do you think this attitrude will spread to the private individuals that donate to A.C.O.R.N.?
Will A.C.O.R.N. go bancrupt? And if so , how long do you think it will take?
Recently while outlining priorties for a military spending bill Obama administration officals expressed a strrong disapproval for a $600 a month pension given to 26 survivors of the World War 2 era Alaska Territorial Guard. So the U.S. Army has reinterrupted the law granting the pensions ,to cut the medical benifits and pensions to almost nil.
The A.T.G. also known as the Eskimo Scouts consisted of 6,638 unpaid volunteers that served from 1942 to 1947. Recruited mainly from Native American Alaskans they were a response to the Japanese invasion of Alaska's Aleutian Islands.
Fighting for a flag not thier own ,they constructed roads ,airfields, hospitals and bridges, among thier other duties were the rescue of downed airmen and stranded sailors in all weathers and conditions. As combat soldiers the Japanese came to fear them for thier endurance and the fact that 90% were rated as expert sharpshooters.
The present problems stem from the fact that the Obama administration contends that thier service was to the state of Alaska rather than the nation as a whole.Ex- Governor Palin ,before leaving office signed a state bill into law providing for the survivors until the end of 2010. What will happen to these heros after that point is unknown.
Sen.Lisa Mudkowski(R. Ak.) and Mark Begich (D. Ak) sponsors of the pension bill, have released a joint statement saying in part the move is"very disappointing, bordering on insentive."
Sen. Murkowski went on to say," The administration's justifaction, which is that the legislation will set the precedent of treating service as a state employee as federal service ,defies logic and history". She also stated ,"Sixty two years after the Territorial Guard was disbanded the Obama administration minimizes the contribution of this gallant unit of American success in World War 2 by calling it's service "state service".
With all the waste in Washingtonyou'd think that they could afford to honor 26 veterns well into thier 80"s with a pittance of a pension. I mean how much longer will the live?
The more I see of this administration's treatment of this country's veterns the more convinced I am they are truly heartless towards TRUE AMERICAN HEROS!!
I came across some quotes by George Waqshington and John Adams on the subject of firearms and I found them to be quite interesting.
"Firearems are second only to to the Constitution in importance;they are the people's liberty's teeth" George Washington
"Arms in the hands of private citizens may be used at individual descretion... in private self- defence." John Adams
"The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference-they deserve a place of honor with all that is good" George Washington
"The second amendment is the garantee of all the other amendments" John Adams
And finally....
"The abrogation of the people's right to keep and bear arms would be a major step towards tyranny." John Adams
I think these are a few things that modern Americans may want to keep in mind.
Considering that 3 terror plots have been exposed and prevented( N.Y.C. ,Springfield Ill. , and Dallas)recently. And that House speaker Nancy Pelosi has branded members of the intelligence community liars. Do you believe that Nancy Pelosi should apologize to the United States intelligence community?
Manuel Zelaya, who has been holed up in the Brazilian embassy in Tegulcigalpa since Monday is now claiming that "Isreali mercenaries"are torturing him.
The claim made to reporters of the Miami Hearld goes that the mercenaries are using high- frequency radiation and toxic gases to alter his mental and physical state.
And this is the nut case that the Obama administration wants to back?
The funny thing about this situation is Zelaya was scheduled to speak before the U.N. on Wendsday ,which would have helped his cause much more than the route he has chosen.
Maybe the U.N. can provide him with a tin foil hat.L.O.L.
Ex- President of Hondurus Zelaya is holed up in the Brazilian embassy , after his mid- night return to Tegulcigapa.
I guess he expected the populace to rise up and carry him on to victory. His few supporters have ventured out in several areas to combat police ,only to be routed.
The embassy itself has been sealed off by roadblocks. Water and power for a time had been cut,but was restored after 85 Zelaya supporters and some of the embassy staff left, none of whom were detained or arrestsed.
Embassy staff requested food of the U.N. and all that could be provided was a truck load of hot dogs, how appropriate WEINERS FOR A WEINER!
So, folks I guess this answers the age old question" What if they threw a Revolution (War) and no one came."
California's Central Valley extends for approxmently 500 miles and is some of the most productive soil in the world. They have a problem though, the enviromentalist in Sacremento have turned off the water supply.
This has caused a disaster in the local economy putting many farmers and associated businesses out of business. Not to speak of the migrant workers, and others in the low income brackets.
All of this is due to the Pacific Smelt which resides in the resiviors and is claimed by some to be an indangered species.
Comedian/ activist Alex Rodriguez (family 4th generation farmers) and his fellow farmers /agri workers have petitioned President Obama to step in and take action in the situation.
Reader, do you think it is approriate for the Feds to step in and demand that the sluice gates be reopened, and the Central Valley be returned to the lush ,productive, cornacoppia it once was?
FOR IT IS ONE THING TO DEPEND ON FORIEGN OIL FOR OUR ENERGY NEEDS ,IT IS ANOTHER TO DEPEND ON FORIEGN SOURCES FOR OUR FOOD!!
Do you think that the last 7 C.I.A. Directors are correct in asking President Obama to stop Attorney General Eric Holder's investagation into "enhanced interrorgations"performed by the C.I.A.
Not many outside Horticultural circles and the farming community know who Norman Borlaug was. But in said groups he was known as the father of the "Green Revolution" in agriculture.
For his efforts he was awarded the Nobel Peace prize ,Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal.
He is credited with saving more lives than any single human being in history. In 1997 George Easterbrook named him "the forgotten benifactor of humanity."He was often referred to as the "man who fed the world."
He died Saturday ,at the age of 95 ,and the world should mourn his passing ,and hope for more of his kind. INSTEAD WE GET SO MUCH GRIEF ABOUT MICHEAL JACKSON AND TED KENNEDY!
