A California man lobbied to get an angel, stars, and other religious emblems removed from Christmas trees and holiday displays in all government buildings in his county. He says the symbols are "extremely offensive" and that government shouldn't "force people into sectarian behavior." The symbols were taken away, then a judge ordered they be put back.

    • From: WOFLweb
    • Description:

A new policy in the U.S. military could land a soldier in jail if she gets pregnant while serving in Iraq.

Under the rule, any woman who gets pregnant, and the man who impregnates her, faces a court-martial or jail time.

The major general who oversees the area defends the rule saying he has a certain number of soldiers that he needs for the full 12 months in the combat zone. If someone gets pregnant it creates a void in the unit.

Saturday, Senate Democrats locked in the 60 votes needed to move ahead with the measure after offering Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson tighter restrictions on abortion coverage. But if the Senate does pass the legislation by Christmas, the New Year will bring negotiations with the House on a compromise bill. The democrats say they've got a done deal, but many republicans think it's a budget buster, what do you think?
